Yeah the seat tube is 59ctc and the top tube is 57ctc.
I’m absolutely loving this 2008-11 era thread talking about 80s road bike tubesets, but not about turning them into fixies.
Already did that lol
@Rusty_Piton
ant gets dibs of course but if that trek goes unclaimed by someone who needs it more
i could use a beater that i beat more than my beater
I might be buying a Woodrup from a dude on the Paceline.
Frick yeah
Damn what model is that? Tell us serial #, easy to look up on vintage-trek.com.
I’ll check!
Guessing this isn’t worth the price

this seems like an OK place to post that i have a 90s allez 58cm with s&s couplers installed. it has dents on the seattube and i had to file one of the dropouts to get a wheel to fit for some reason. would let go for cheap. pm if interested.
Seems fine. I’d put modern components on it and eBay all that 600
duh
Noooo.
I flipped one of those a while ago. Heavy. Not a good frame. Lugged aluminum with a heavy rear end.
Yes, that is a very bad bike.
sooo went and checked out the bike. It wasn’t the worst thing ever to ride but I could tell it was giving me a black Chyna vibe. Very much butt heavy.
I fear the wrath of the bear more than I am impatient to get a new bike thankfully
This is the thread I’ve been waiting for - been in the market for a mid 80’s steel cheap fast bike to throw an Ultegra group on but have had a hard time navigating.
I think this deserves a new section of the database.
Absolutely! My partner’s bike is a 70s Legnano and it is seriously smooth and fun, even with skinny bone-rattler tires.
So psyched on the Woodrup because now we will both have Cool re-enactment steel frames with semi-modern parts. It’s insane to me how much better the old boys are than most of the turd butts out there today.
Oh yeah I have a Rival 1 group that I’m putting on it. Should be cool right?
Add a 1mm washer at the dangler hanger to help it get into top gear.
You might have noodelbiek ghost shifting, but it’s part of the charm.
An ultegra (6600 is nice) FD swap is the best thing you can do to adjust the rival FD. Clamp on or braze on plus a sleek b/o adaptor. Some housing inner at the BB guides to help the cables slide also.
Grab the brakes if you can get them cheap, otherwise find some BR-R650s or VO Gran Cru.
(My Frezoni was initially rival and I did all this, except the brakes as it was built for early 80s singles, so I’m using wide rims for 25s under short reach BR-6600. Now it’s full 6600 and much better.)
Oh I didn’t think about getting burned by the noodle. I do have some 10 speed bar ends I could toss on if 11 proves to be too finicky.
I really hope it works because a 1x11 on a bike from 1978 would be fucking hilarious.
Also I have some Tektro brakes homie is including with the frameset. Should be a fun project!
