@LASER_BEIGE tell us more about this rack situation?
Orc made it. 9x12
There is a light mount and 4 warts on the underside spaced for standard bottle cages or ??? Accessories. Additionally there are 2 warts on the platform that I intend to use with a ~12” machete.
Thought I’d share my janky diy decaleur mod on I did on my little sunlite rack for the lone peak I’ve been running
What’s a good rack to mount a front low rider pannier?
I only have holes on the outside.
In that case the Tubus Tara seems ok too, but never used it. Think I recall seeing it on @kmcdon’s grando?

Recall a few others were using the Salsa jawns as well
Yeah, tara’s great if you only have eyelets on the outside of the fork.
I also have the salsa jawns for the h/g, but only because the fork is too wide for the tara. The salsa jawns are actually pretty darn solid.
How do you like the bag? TarckApproved
?
Yes tell us about M A G N E T S
Can confirm the Tara also clears 27.5 x 2.1’s
I like it so far but have little experience with rando bags.
Things I like:
M A G N E T S are pretty alright. I did manage to unclip it when tugging at the bag vertically while my bike was hanging nose down from a hook in my basement, but otherwise its staying on there well.
really is quick to put on and take off.
I added a toe clip strap above the buckle on the back and put it around my handlebars: decaleur? I barely know’eur.
Things I dislike:
No back pockets, silly thing on your rack. The included stiffeners seem to just be thicc nylon sheets, so i think coroplast might be better.
easily remedied, or made worse…
I literally havent even done a tarck century in less than 9 hours (to and from work) yet, so I’ll follow up when I get more miles on it.
Can vouch for this rack. I’ve overloaded the shit out of it, crashed it, and it just keeps working as it should.
The only thing I don’t like about it is I bought mine used and it was missing those tabs on the bottom to secure the lower hooks of my panniers. I’ve been meaning to make something that’ll bolt in to the worts on the bottom for this… But I have not.
What were those bits squirrel printed a while back? Wouldn’t those work?
Jimmy designed them and I have used them a bunch.
They are designed for the Tubus Duo, not the Tubus Tara. I believe the Duo uses larger tubing than the Tara.
There are many options to fix this issue, I choose to just let it bug me for another couple years until I do something about it or buy a different rack/panniers.
This is still one of the better solutions I’ve come up with, in terms of requiring no modification or special mountings on the rack. Does require the bag to have some non-standard webbing.
Plastic clips meant for holding hydration hoses on a shoulder strap:

I had the foresight to request two additional strips of 3/4" webbing added to the bottom of my bag when I had it made. Perfect!

There’s enough wiggle room to get the bag on and off no problem, but otherwise it is very secure, I can lift the whole bike up by the bag.

For what it’s worth, I used pliers to adjust the metal hooks on my lone peak panniers so they are very snug around the bottom strut — I slide them on from the front. Very sturdy never had an issue with pannier stability, even on 100+ mile gravel rides.
Anyways, my $80 orc rack is still going strong almost six years later:
Great rack although I had to have cyclefab in Seattle replace both fork mounts about three years into rack life.
That looks great, but I honestly don’t have enough room on the steerer for more stuff, if you can believe that.
I have the same problem for a different reason (my bikes don’t usually have any steerer), so I fabricated something basically identical to this, and it has been working fine on my Elephant for two years now.

I will do this.
