Why?
For solar panels
and?
And I’m looking for a rack
I thought we were teasing out your needs, was imagining you might say something like, “and a canoe”
Just get the flexy panels, some vhb tape and some white sikaflex, I think 252?
No dude the flexiboys aren’t great yet. I already have some rigid ones anyway.
No it’s really too tall to put anything else on there and I don’t want a widdle wadder
does it have gutter mounts you can put towers on or are you intending to mount the rack directly to the fiberglass shell?
No gutter
Will need to drill
so you basically need mounts or standoffs for rigid solar panels only, a rack is kind of a different thing and implies other types of gear to be temporarily mounted
are the rigid panels you have self-supporting or do they need structure beneath to support their own weight and wind forces?
They’re self supporting - I’ll probably get a fairing for the front but honestly this vehicle doesn’t drive 55 very often
I mounted a rigid panel to my fiberglass roof using vhb and sikaflex. I used some 2" aluminum angle stock between my roof and the panel. No pics, sorry.
their instructions state you need airflow behind the modules, but they also have integral rails with mounting holes. assuming the surface of the fiberglass cap isn’t planar though so you may need some way to adapt the geometry which could be as simple as a couple rails cut to fit the profile of the roof, then secured in place with tabs
What are my options for elegant foppy rear rack? nitto r15 type beat. Are there any other things to look for
