That's a nice rack thread you had there; shame if something were to happen to it again

Eh, hit me up. I’ve got a shitload of fractional racks floating around and if you’re willing to take what I’ve got I can cut you a “get this shit out of my bike mess” deal.

There was a 3d printed lower hook mount thing for the Duo/Tara floating around at some point right?

IIRC @Andrew_Squirrel has one that @jimmythefly designed?

We need to put a shapeways hyperlink in the Tarck spreadsheet.

be the change you want to see!

The new forum has ‘wiki posts’ as a feature. I don’t know how or where we could use that. But it exists. It’s a post that anyone can edit. And it has version tracking.

For simplicity’s sake, I’d suggest we stick with the Google spreadsheet - it’s formatted and we all know to look there.

Then again, this is a bike forum with ten separate pants chat threads, so what the fuck, let’s make a spreadsheet, a wiki, and a SlideShare deck all about the same five components.

wow, talk about overkill

custom titanium bike with a thin steel fork that’s stiffened right back up by an overbuilt rack

36 spoke Velocity disc wheels with a rim brake track, mechanical calipers, a $15 hybrid tire and a $350 dynohub

level stem on a tower of spacers, and Alivio-quality cranks poking into the picture

eDelux jail in front, or some sort of mad max-style hostage situation?

Rear luggage Q’s
What rack should I get - preferably silver
I’ve had a Bontrager BackRack Deluxe in the past and it was good but it sits pretty far back and this is going on my MTB townie with pretty long chainstays to begin with
Is there any pannier worth considering other than Ortlieb Back Rollers?

Kinda been thinking about this myself. Last I checked you can get silver versions of the non-stainless Tubus racks from Euroland.

Definitely a silver Tubus ordered from Germany

Love my Back Rollers. Can’t think of any way I’d even improve them. I guess there’s the “Packers” or whatever with the flap on top but I don’t know if they handle over-stuffing the same way the Rollers do

Ooh yeah euro tubus looks great
anybody used one of their 26"-specific racks with 2" tires? assuming it will work fine but if not it would be good to know

Check the Ortlieb USA site. They sometimes have links to dimensional drawings for the racks.

Cheapo platform/rando rack option to be p-clamped onto a sturdy steel unicrown? I remember Fred and some others posting about some that looked like Nitto knockoffs.

You should mail me the fork and I’ll braze some actual rack mounts onto it, then stick a cheap Nashbar aluminum rack onto the thing and mail it back to you, for $please-get-this-cheap-rack-out-of-my-bike-mess.

That might happen over the winter. It isn’t my bike but a friend’s first commuter that I found on CL for her (we added basket and my old feed bag right away). Definitely up your alley:

I’d love to make it even awesomer.

What flavo(u)r of GT is that? If it’s a Talera (or Talera-alike), I have a fork here that I could braze the things onto and send to you for $yes-get-this-stuff-out-of-my-bike-mess-please

I’m no GT expert but it fits 26x2.0" wheels, has a triple and a threaded headset.
