I took a spill a few months ago. A few days later I was heading out for a longer ride and noticed that the bar tape had been frayed and was unpeeling. Slapped some electrical tape on so I could leave and haven’t thought about it since, until yesterday!
so was the old tape like…patched with electrical tape, or completely electrical taped over?
and yet this entire time you’ve had functional (if still terrible) bar tape in your possession?
as one of tarck’s laziest bike maintainers (see avatar), i feel compelled to judge you negatively
I’ve just moved from Canada to Germany and picked up a bike yesterday, so I’d like to show it off here. It’s a Trek 950 from somewhere around the 1990th year. Full German spec. including fenders, rack, kickstand and dynamo. Here’s a photo from it’s first ride home.
Not shown in the picture is the rear shifter which is completely lacking the shifters themselves, and you may not be able to make out the busted pawls in the front shifter leaving it stuck cross-geared.
Back in Canada, I left behind 2 other bikes I’d like to share with you. This one I call Marc 1, built in Ashland, OR at UBI in the early 2010s.
Are the pawls actually busted, or do you just need to spray some solvent in the shifter to clean out all the old grease that’s now turned to wax and frozen them in place?
this is my kinda shit
although i would like to know how you came across tarck, perused the forums, and decided to MAKE AN ACCOUNT and also figured out WHERE to post your first post?
i have always wondered this
