the return of the bad handlebar thread

Counterpoint: I ran a CC40 on a personal Coffee Grinder for a while. Same conditions. Same nut connected to the bars. I dealt with bearing replacement and service.

King bearings are better quality material and are better sealed than CC (even Hellbender). This is a fact (IMO LOL). Is it worth 4X the price? Ehhh… maybe?

FWIW my longest lasting bearings have been some enduro ones that came in my WI headset. Those have been great for like 15,000mi even with lots of rain, CX, and singletrack.

My Ritchey Road Logic has a King lower headset and a Ritchey Fuzzy Logic top, but I’m struggling to recall why. There was definitely a reason.

The unfinished ends makes me nervous

I think that was supposed to be reversed. Ritchey had some needle bearing lowers on some of their headsets

I have a CK lower that I got for $20 and a CC viscoset top on joke bike because it’s what I do

I remembered how this happened! Bike started with a 1" threaded Logic fork. I had a custom 1" threadless fork built for more tire clearance and only used the top half of the 1" threadless headset.

I’ve had maybe half a dozen king headsets over the years, all of them used, all of them I traded other parts for, every single one worth it, every single one installed up-side-down for good luck, every single one was serviced once when installing and then never touched again and operated perfectly while they were in my care.

I have a 9/8 stainless king but it’s the one for ovalized headtubes

I know I’m old, because I prefer the early 2000’s Colnagos like this to the ones they make now.

Idk that new steel bike they have is pretty sweet and just a paint job away from greatness

???

Is that for people who want to slam that stem™ but who aren’t comfortable leaning that far forward?

Presumably. Specialized and Canyon have been making variants on this for a few years. This is, presumably, more aero than a ‘normal’ bar with spacers.
