WHAT
THE
FUCK
They got the dumb part right
ayyyyyy
i said dithering, not dithering
SOMEBODY PLEASE PUT THEM ON A KATU STAT!!!
Hell yeah.
It’s like the Heli Bars that came on my ST1100
I like them enough to not replace them but they do adjust themselves every once in a while. A non-adjustable bar with the right shape would be preferable!
The two bar halves are ever so slightly crooked in their photos. Not very professional.
I mean it’s in the name
The other bars on that page are very very very very euro too.
I had a set of those Scott AT bars with the fluro bridge on my first MTB. They were great for smashing through nettles. That bike got stolen, though. Then I had some weird Zoom Brahma bars that were chop & flop before that became a thing.
I think my favorite weird handlebars were the Powerlite Powerbend on my BMX, where the last 3" of the grip made a downward hook.
The copy says they are for people with skeletal asymmetry. Which seems hard to make fun of if you are a person that is really enabled by these. If people are using them for. Not that. Then. They need to not show their shame to others.
Totally makes sense for that use case.
Okay that’s very cool. I retract my snark.
Reminds me of the pic I saw of a custom stem made for something like that. It had two separate bar clamps for separate right and left sides of road bars with one side of the bars many centimeters ahead of the other. Super cool. Seems like I’m remembering that being an @Eric_Estlund joint.
HY
Did you do anything different on that stem to account for each side being loaded asymmetrically?
The whole thing is a bit overbuilt, and each extension braces the other. It’s a fairly complicated compond nesting miter.
That’s awesome
The Dumbo locks the two bar halves with that dogbone piece so the only way to handle asymmetry is to change the sweep on one side.
I like the Nude Beach Reacharound version with the danglesack:
Just looked at the Modolo. They’ve always had a thing for oddball handlebars. They also make (made) some pretty great not-oddball stuff. I supose it fits a want.
Kinda surprised they’re still in business? They seemed like the 70/80s lower level alternative to Cinelli.
