Weird Build Dithering Thread Infinity: Part 2

Dithering? I’ve been dithering lately

Wow real nerdery here

I’m still trying to track down a Saavedra headset, shifters and derailleurs but I doubt I’ll find them.

Love an obsessive oddball build like that. Guy I know collected a full Cambio Rino group, I donated the sweetest toeclip pedals I’ve ever owned to the cause

Can’t sleep. Grabbed a mild polishing compound I’ve got at home

Nice! Rubbing compound and a coat of paste wax works wonders on old bikes.

I guess this is the actual right thread for dithering about the pile of FRIENDPOINT Coffee Grinder sitting in my garage.

I keep going back and forth in my head about two things. Tires and hubs. I have a set of i19 wtb hoops, I’ll be using those. They’re 32h, of course.

For tires, probably going to use Gravel Kings, I liked the SK’s I had. Are the slicks a similar ride? I’m pushing 210lbs naked so almost anything nice is supple enough for me. I’m currently running exposures and they’re giving me every ounce of it so I’m tempted to just buy another set… But I really want to try something without cornering knobs again. I dunno, I’ll probably end up with whatever is cheaper from euroland when I order my hubs and other stuff.

I’m going to run a dyno, duh. I wanna wait for the Shimano through axle dyno because it’s less than half the price of the fancy boy dyno and I like Shimano stuff because it just works. Is a Son hub really worth the expense? If so, why?

My favorite bars are cowbells, but I haven’t tried anything else in years. What should I look at to play nice with sram hydro shakes? I like a little flare, ergos are dumb, I definitely do not need any deep drops. Might wanna try carbon, never had anything but aluminum drop bars before.

Here’s a dither for ya’s; should I mullet my Schwinn with this cheap fork:

I’d paint it white with red sparkles.

the schwinn is 1-1/8"?

Shit. Why does a threaded 9/8 fork even exist WTF?!?

here’s a 1" guy!

I rarely say no to bike dithering, but no.

That bike is already fully built and functional, right? I think you could spend the time on other projects.

No fork should ever come with 150mm of threads. That thing is a dentists wet dream.

ATMO if you’re worried about killing rims (didn’t say you were I’m just guessing), then track down some Mavic D521 rims with ceramic surface.

If you really want disc brakes, I’d simply search for a different frameset, there were some rigid city type bikes made with 26" wheels and disc brake-able frames. REI and Trek had some for sure, not sure who else.

I was just throwing shit at the wall. No real plans.

I found a set of 26" 65mm PB fenders in the auxiliary bike mess. Y/N for my gravel®©™ bike?

Heck yep.

The eternal dithering continues…:

Where do you put a dropper actuator on drop bars?
