Weird Build Dithering Thread Infinity: Part 2

ideally use a downtube shifter for the FD and the left shake for the dropper

alternatively there’s this jawn that’s OEM trans-x gear on the Cannondale Topstone:

other main option is a 23.8mm cross-top brake lever, which you could get creative about placing

you also have the option to use one as an interrupter lever inline with one of the first two options

Just get a normal dang lever from Wolftooth or whatever and put it wherever you want - prob along the tops tho.

Edit: no okay, on second thought I see where Fred’s going with it. I guess I’d put FD on a Paul’s thumbie and put dropper in left brifter.

Scott, “brifter” is a bad portmanteau. We use “shake(s)” when referring to the integrated shift/brake lever mechanism.

But in this usage does it become a “drake?”

Point to your integrated brake and shift levers on your bike.

Say: “brifters” aloud

Then say: “shakes”

You will learn how it feels to go from sounding like a total idiot to sounding like you know cool names for bike parts.

If you say “brifter” three times you might summon the restless spirit of Grant Petersen to tell you to use albatross bars, a single thumb shifter, and shift the front with a stick like G-d intended. (it’s never worked for me, but I remain hopeful)

Free Trek 1220 that happens to fit a friend that needs an around town bike. Going to use the original crank with a narrow wide ring and that’s it. Went from 25 lbs to 21 rather quickly. Easily under 20 if I throw the crabon crank on.

Parts bin wonder mobile. Need to build a front wheel from parts I have.

When lying in bed last night, I started wondering how the old tioga powerblocks from my former commuter would fit on my new disc road bike

Turns out, pretty much perfectly. I mocked up my 27.5 enduro wheel, and that didn’t look like it was gonna make it. I’m pleased, since it’ll be way easier finding cheap qr disc wheels in 26 compared to 27.5

That is a modern version of all of our 26” balloon slick v-brake mountain bikes from 2013-2014.

I have like 2 or 3 sets, not worth shipping though. Do you ever drive out to California? I’ll throw them in the trunk of your full size luxury Japanese sedan.

That looks remarkably good.

Dynamo’d the Waterford since the sun is setting earlier. Still need to wire up the rear. Feels good.
