What did you do to your crosscheck today?

I remember a post saying VO had some production samples…

Yes, finally getting around to trying them out. So far so good. It goes up and down. There doesn’t seem to be a good remote dropper for drop bars, though. I think you really need to use a shifter. Otherwise it’s kinda awkward trying to balance and reach while standing up.

What about that ENE command shifter with the power ratchet pawl removed?

have I shared with Tarck the idiotic idea worm that has infected my brain re: drop bar and drop post bike?

I want to set up a 2x bike with dorps and dropper, via sram 2x shakes and a bar-end shifter. Right shake does normal rear dr. Left shake does dorper post. Bar-end shifts front dr. Mount bar-end on right side to concentrate all shifting actions on one side for extra silliness.

Basically this? Mounting it on the hooks isn’t great. I have normal size hands and fingers, but I’d need some Slenderman fingers to get it to work from the hoods.

Good idea, been done. Besides the bar end being on the right. That is proper silly

oh shit, it’s been done! That’s a cool bike.

What is the curvy part? I can’t make sense of it.

Thumb and index finger.

Oh, it now makes sense if I look at it upside down

The other alternative is to put the pusher shifter on a friction downtube shifter since it really works there anyway.

Oh yea if that was an option on the frame I’m thinking about doing this on, I’d definitely at least consider it.

The drivetrain I use on my tourer is 39/22(24? I forget) up front and 11-42 in the back; the front has always been friction but at one point I was doing it with a DT shifter. It’s basically a bail-out ring so I only really need to reach for it occasionally. Worked good.

the PRO takedropoff lever seems kinda good too

someone here has one… @bward1028?

yeah, i got it from @EndpointBraden

i had all the parts to do it with a kelly take off and a friction shifter, but this is actually make to do it. it works well, but i’ve been having problems with the shifter lever getting stuck on it lately. i think it might just have slipped a bit. it took a little fiddling to get it in the right place, but it is really the only thing i’ve found for derping from the drops or the hoods.

What frame? Just mount a clamp-on thumbie or that lever Igor posted around the seat tube (toward the rear, just under the seatstays) and run the cable straight down to the front derailleur.

There’s one, but they make you use dot oil for your brakes.

Evasion. But I’ve got the bar-end and shakes set sitting around already so I figure it’ll be a reasonable thing to try, and if it doesn’t work no harm no foul, I’ll just have a 1x instead of a 2x gravel tourer mishmash machine. Or I’ll skip the dropper, which is likely what I’ll be doing for a little while anyways.

Emotionally passed our old Santana Sovereign on to our friends for a demo ride to see if they want to buy it. I think they will, and then there will be more tears.

This tandem was a wedding gift from all my bike shop coworkers 7 years ago, and now that we have a cannondale mtn tandem, we are selling this to our friends, a couple who married 2 months ago. It’s bittersweet because we’re saying goodbye to something that represents so many memories to us, but at the same time I hope it does for their relationship what it did for ours.

Kinda went full enduro and copped a used pair of pedals for cheap. Feels good with the bigger platform/support!
