This is proper sidewalls!
What a relief
Do you know if those little tabs on the bottom of your tubus rack are available for purchase anywhere? I’m considering a couple of hose clamps but that seems much clumsier than this dealie
someone here designed that. might’ve been andrew, crowding, or jimmy
Looks like it was @jimmythefly:
Yeah it me. @Andrew_Squirrel did you mention that you altered the design slightly for better fit of the hex nuts?
I have to track down the design but I’m happy to email it to anyone who wants to 3d print their own.
Surely by now there must be others available for sale elsewhere?
Oh I don’t have access to 3d printing services ( i guess I could seek them out online ) but a little bit of internet research lead me to these: https://www.grainger.com/product/29NW10 which might do the trick
Tarckbear Consulting LLC has a fab farm of 3d printers at its disposal
Aluminum, plastic, quick-release, etc:
haha yup Ace is the place
I don’t think I ever got the source files from you, just the STL print files. I ended up printing two orange plastic versions, one low resolution on my work printer and then I had Shapeways print a high res version that I am now using.
The design could reduce the diameter down a hair since I can bottom out the bolts and still rotate the hook keeper with my hands. Also maybe replace the 6mm bolts with 5mm to save weight (I think I remember you using 6mm because you had bolts and nuts in-stock at work?).
Might still have these OG black ones that Jimmy printed at work:
I wonder if those could be lost-material cast in aluminum?
Appreciate all the details! I’m mostly hoping these 1/2" inside diameter collars will fit the 14mm dia of the tubus rack.
Added it here, scroll down and you can download the .stl to make your own.
See @Andrew_Squirrel comments above, looks like I need to reduce the bore diameter and maybe some other changes.
Definitely designed for M5 hardware, and the holes are Ø5.54mm in cad. Could go to M4, but seems like most bike folks should easily have M5 on hand.
would it be helpful to dimple the rack stays and include a corresponding post in the keeper to prevent rotation or sliding?
Oh whoops, yes, I was thinking of M4
Rode the sweet fixed hybrid on some mtb trails. Smoking and not doing any distance riding has killed my endurance.
You just summed up the last month of my life.
