I’m game, yeah.
Albatross bars / controls were taken off the big blue Sam and the stock derpbars are going back on. That bike gonna find a new home. Maybe there’s a situation where I’d enjoy being an upright dork cycle rider, but this ain’t it.
Those bars / controls are getting setup to be used on the smaller orange Sam. Also started setting up a set of narrower Noodles with a shorter stem for that bike.
Maybe it’s dumb to have three different full sets of bars/stems/brakey+shifty levers to be able to swap in and out on the same bike. Looks like I’m gonna find out.
fuck around and find out
It’s costs exactly zero dollars* to do it, too!
* zero future dollars
i campan-yolo’d a campagnolo ekar group. should be here by the end of the year. will be going most likely on an anti-hambini bike
saw ice this morning, so put on the winter tires. i’m probably a month too early but i felt like doing a nice project.
also cleaned the drivetrain to get it nice and ready to be completely destroyed by road salt.
Spent 30 minutes scrubbing tape residue off a set of Noodles in prep for long weekend dithering.
Put a gas-tank and a stem pouch on the Cannibal last night. I hadn’t thought of the clearance issues I was going to get with my aero-pads v stem-pouch, probably why so many people use Fred bars for extra height. Maybe I wont be jamming my 950ml bottles in them after all.
Stuck on my new dynamo “wheel-build” with lights and aero bars. Commuted for an hour to work this morning and was reminded how aero is my most favourite and relaxed position, and I certainly needed it in a shitty head-wind, and trying to recover from the “boot-camp” classes we are doing at work. I need a lot of recovery from that stuff right now, because my body sure ain’t used to it.
Older child decided she can ride a bike now and did a 4 mile ride with me on foot telling her to stop and wait over and over. So I built up the old FTW Endpoint Monstercross thing with flat bars today to ride with her. Parking lot test ride went well.
I got bored and painted a cheapo stem pink and put it in my Traffic. What’s the Tarck verdict on this? The jury’s out over here.
Also, should I paint the stem in my cargo VooDoo purple?
Stem looks appropriate for the bike, as for the cargo, 100% yes, the more weird shit on a cargo bike the better.
That’s all the permission I need!
put a new big but not as big runny arse on the back of the trucker, along with 46t cassette and new chain, and switched the bars back to FSA metropolises.
Cabled up the big Sam and moved it to the cellar of forgotten bikes.
The spacer height is consistent with our expectations.
Guess what I did? That’s right, I straightened my derailleur hanger.
Actually, I replaced it, and then straightened. Pretty sure the old one was fatigued and was moving just from the tension of the derailleur.
Hang on, are you straightening aluminum hangers? Is that a thing you can do without destroying it?
A+ color, needs more patina to match the rest of the bike.
They usually need to be straightened out of the box. It’s little tweaks, not one big bend. Usually.
Yes. A little as mentioned. This thing was never tweaked very much. I straightened it a couple times and that was all it had in it.
New one wasn’t perfect out of the box. Straightened it as little as I could manage.
