it depends. usually a little. some will only really suffer being knocked out of alignment (looking at you, 2024 series aluminum). generally speaking from my experience the better it shifts the less likely it is to not snap upon realignment (aluminum specifically)

Took the alloy bar off my Santa Cruz Superlight and swapped it for the carbon bar that was on the Cannondale Flash so I donāt have to worry about clamping aeros and bar ends onto carbon. Reattached the k-lites but need to sort out something better for a mount. I guess I can put the carbon bar back on the Tallboy now, as I am not using its front wheel anymore, having built up the new dynamo wheel with a Crest rim. Gutted that I have at least 3 Conti Race Kings lying about but they are complete POS to mount/unmount on stans rims. Feels like the bearings are shot in the Tallboyās front wheel so there is that to fix too. Looking for a stans friendly bikepacking tire(s).

1 x 11ed the rlt. Put the 650bs back on with new tires. New brake cables. Meant to do this in the summer to do some bike camping trips but never got around to it.

Cleaned up the rim beads and retaped the set of wheels I bought from @Face for the day/ruiner, then spent multiple hours getting the GP5K tubeless tires mounted. Broke three tire levers, swore audibly and loudly more than I have at any one time in my entire life, contemplated quitting bikes. Also pretty sure I messed up the tape on the first wheel in the processes.
I put tubes in them to help seat the new tape. Pretty sure the tubes are going to stay in until motivation returns to mess with them again, new tire levers arrive, or they puncture. It might take all three happening.

New bike got cleaned and fine-tuned.
What the hell is KMC coating their chains with out of the factory? This thing was disgusting after fewer than 200 mostly dry miles. Completely black, coated in grime. I generally donāt do much chain maintenance but I scrubbed the hell out of that thing.
Think Iāve got a sticky piston in my rear brake which is really annoying for brand new Shimano. Didnāt investigate further today because doing so means learning hydros and Iām tired. It brakes fine with just a tiny bit of rub, but I can see that one piston isnāt retracting much. Will look into it this week.

I know this is way late but instead of fuxxing with ultrasonic plus wax, just get some Squirt. Thatās all Iāve used forever and my drive train remains clean and friction-free as far as I can tell. I had one bad run-in with Chain-L, what a mess.
The thing Iām aiming to do is to replace the lube that came on the chain, which means getting it into the rollers.
Hot wax immersion takes a moment. Not sure how often Iāll need to reapply. I doubt Iāll have to clean a chain more than once in its lifetime.
my preferred way of cleaning a chain is replacing it with a new one. i mostly use dumonde classic and idgaf about a dirty drivetrain. minor miracle that a filthy drivetrain works as well as it does and iām down to roll with that and zero effort.

Changed the bars on the Flash for the third time in a week I guess. PITA. Esi grips, brakes, shifters, lock-out, aero bars. Dynamo lights. Mounted the qube dynamo flashers and another stem pouch. Looked at mounting the front roll, but put it off for another day. Bashed the bearings out of the Tune hub on my Tallboy. One was locked solid for sure. Swapped wheels on the OPEN from 27.5 back to 700. Put the bars from the Flash back on the Superlight, in well under 10 mins. Forgot, also bled the rear brake on the Flash.

This happened to me as well. I took my GP5ās and wheels to my friends house where he and his housemate wrestled the goddamn tire on the rim. Itās never coming off now lol

what does the Open feel like with 27.5 vs 700c?
I canāt decide between never taking them off, or taking them off right away to try something a bit more plump. The 32s are only measuring 30mm on these rims, think Iād like something closer to 35.

I actually prefer the 700s but because it mostly gets ridden off road I ride the 27.5s. Barlow Passes on the 700s and Specialized Fastttracks on the 27.5. I need to try it with some narrower road tires but I only have 25s. Might feel a bit harsh.
