Josie loved playing with googly eyes.
Started off doing a simple thing of moving the old Deore thumbies from above the bars to under the bars, and ended up swapping out both the brake levers and shifters in the process. Looks real nice and clean tho.
Yeah thatās realllll nice
I gotta figure out how to flip my sunrace thumbie. Itās real annoying to use in the above bar position when barmits are installed.
Love it, does this flip the shifters left-right too?
The microshift thumbies can be removed and swapped on the mounts.
The cable orientation still works?
Nope, itās the normal handed setup. Theyāre both Sunrace friction things that Riv sells, easy enough to flip like this. Iāve done the same with Shimano bar-ends and Paul mounts when I didnāt care about indexing.
This is good to know. Iāve been curious to try them. Howās the friction mode on them?
Afaik there is no friction mode on any of them. All the ones I have ever seen are index only. That being said, all of the basic 8, 9, and 10 speed ones are pretty sloppy at best. So youāll still get a bit of hunting for the gear if thatās what youāre into. The newer ones specific to 11s and dynasys are better.
Feeling the zen
Been dicking with my TTW rig. The usual problems. So Ive done a strap-on bottle mount under bottom tube which will collect shit and likely connect my wheel during gnar. Just found my bladder tube only works when I am in the aeros⦠need to make an extender. Put a 180 rotor on the front. Had to borrow it off my Tallboy as the one I had lined up turned out to be for resin pads. Set the frame bag up. It kind of fits. I canāt see where I am gonna put my food as the stem pouches are only so big. Itās close to being finished.
Annual shitty fender job on the fat chance, forgoing the dynamo set up this year, this will just be a 1 mile commute machine when its sloppy out, and battery lights will be just fine. Was too lazy to remove the dyno taillight bolted to the rear fender, now itās just a huge reflector.
@blackholelectron & @drwelby for what its worth I swapped my Sunrace el cheapos left and right sides. Cables stayed, so still front/rear shifters on the proper side, but for whatever reason it was decided not swapping levers would result in a weirder result.
my question is more how do you keep the rear indexed shifter on the right side. With the lever upside down the cable orientation is backward, and I donāt think you can flip the lever because they wonāt mount upside down, and the groove will be offset.
ah yes, mine are not indexed. farewell.
Look man, Iām willing to cut this bike a whole lot of slack, but this is just unacceptable.
The fenders have been sitting under piles of shit all summer and are permanently wobbly. I rode it today and they rub on left turns, so I do need to adjust, but it aināt gonna look any better. Thatās just where Iām at right now.
Iām envisioning a lock-on grip or golf ball as a shim for that seattube fender connectionā¦
It will thrill you to know I was only able to make it as bad as it was because I found a ācut too short but still useableā zip tie on the ground and used my pocketknife to poke some holes in the fender to wrap it through. The actual bracket portion of the fender got ripped of years ago, how I donāt remember.
Iāll hit up the l(hardware)s for the annual zip tie re-up and pick up some tiny bit of pvc pipe to use as a spacer and make it nice⦠eventually.
PVC pipe is a good call. Hot dog would be ideal but temporary of course
