Put Ferg’s old Berthoud saddle on the day/ruiner and rode it around the block. Initial impression: no negative feels down there, so it stays on for a warmer day when I’m more motivated to ride longer.
Best thing you could do with those wheels.
These wheels are great! Only thing messed up is the freehub body. Wheel bearings are good and rims true with zero adjustment ever. And this was the bike that got me into mountain biking lol.
Been thinking about deconstructing my roadbiek to get all that mess prepped for sale. This is / is not helping.
Yours probably won’t be corroded into one piece.
I see value in ceramic bearings now. The super record derailleur pulleys are in perfect shape!

i have lifted john’s fender probation, he now back to being a gold star member of this website
Yes, this is acceptable.
I’m rebuilding my '99 Ritchey Road Logic frameset with parts bin stuff. It had a classic Thomson zero setback post. But then I remembered the Kalloy setback jawn in the bin. Despite being the same size it didn’t fit. Rather than taking the reamer to a somewhat special frame I spent way too long sanding the Kalloy smaller to fit. It was scratched to hell anyway and looks pretty ok now that it’s seen 100, 400, 800, 1000, and 3000 grit papers.
Reinstalled fenders, built new wheels, tubelessed tires, un-moto’d brake levers (did this by accident and left for a couple months), setup dyno lighting, trimmed bars and lowered stem since the weekend.
These maxxis velocita’s are amazing and set up easily with an hpx. The front light is tiny but pretty great for lit streets. Worth it for an impulse buy last time I bought stuff from Germany.
This bike is 9/10 and all you need for that elusive extra point is to denounce your username and get the right kind of rim brakes!
tarcklebee for whoever convinces @canti_lover to go full disc
That there is a real nice Crosscheck.
In schwarzenegger voice, ‘its not a crosscheck!’
