What did you do to your crosscheck today?

If you measure radially, you’ve probably got like 80mm, should be fine for centuries by that metric

totally stripped down and rebuilt both mine and mrs bike’s endpoints.

new pads, brake bleeds, new bartape, cables. refreshed tubeless (holey shit there was a lot of dried up orange seal in there), new tires for me.

total cleaning of the tarck bike, no real maintenance needed but god DAMN it looks good now.

mullet’d the grando with a byway in the rear and a venture in the front. promptly realized there’s a hole in the tubeless tape (that’s a “next week” problem now…)

tried to bleed the PIECE OF SHIT tektro brakes on the slowside, ended up fucking that up, bought some 4 pot deore brakes and a pnw derper post (150mm) for it, that thing is gonna be fuckin lit

it was an exhausting weekend but we ready for summer now

I played with the preset functionality on the ebike and accidentally reset the existing settings instead of copying them to the new preset. Recovered from that, now I have a legal class 2 preset for MUT use and a kind of legal class 3 for road use (throttle is still active). 28mph is kinda optimistic with the 36V battery (max is about 24mph, a 48V battery would let the motor hit ~29mph), but I was able to hit 25mph with a cadence of 95. Might be time to revisit past chainring dithers.

It was not the source. I guess I have to re-tape the rim…

For the first hour of a failing attempt at fixing a slow leak, my logic is " well it can’t be the tape because I’ve already put the tire on and I do not want to take the tire off again"

after that I take the tire off again and fix the tape.

I wondered and measured like five times on two bikes. I’ll check again! I am using old school vernier calipers and maybe am reading them wrong?

Show us the caliper reading, Jan.

I was definitely Janin’ the heck out of it.

But I couldn’t get a good reading. I preset it to 1.5 and it won’t slip over so I’ve probably got one more season.

I also decided I am going to buy a 57cm polyvalent when the new batch hits. After 4,600 miles I’ve come to the conclusion that the 60 is too big for me and opinions got he contrary are rationalizations.

i think the wires are slapping around in the frame now. gotta figure that one out

i put some big chunky cheap plastic pedals on the Official Tarck Olmo and it’s my favorite bike right now. i ride it to school to pick my son up. it makes me smile every time. what is it about track bikes that just feels so cool? i can’t explain it. zen, man.
i still need to tape the bars. i have some black tape, some purple tape (which i’m saving for my blue canyon) and some pink tape (which i also want to put on the blue canyon). can’t decide.

It got hot here and my selle anatomica R2 kinda melted, note the stretch around the front-side rivets

Definitely felt soft when I rode into work yesterday, didn’t realize I stretched it out until this am. Still feels okay for now but might need to replace the top on it sooner than I was anticipating

Rode a pump track and dirt jumps. I’ve had the ideas of replacing my trials bike with a two brake dj and this is reinforcing that. A suspension fork would be much better on my wrist too…

Sounds like there’s going to be a surplus 60cm frame… HMU

lol

Need to have some thoughts about drivetrain before going further, probably going to be 1x9 friction with used parts and definitely a different crank.

At this point I’m probably just trolling

Some sociologist, sometime in the future: “…then at some point, not even racks and baskets were enough, they switched to dedicated cargo forks with smaller wheels.”

650b rear wheel to level the rack?
