What did you do to your crosscheck today?

Post a pic of your rolling chassis in front of your rotting shed door.

Put the tubeless wheels I built and rebuilt ultegra brakes on it. I ordered some rim tape and tubeless tires. Gotta get at @Hazlewood pretty soon.

Summary of the previous week or so:
Installed Tubus Cosmo rear rack. Goodbye old Axiom Journey rack, you just aren’t as cool and the amount of wear on your aluminum tubing makes me nervous.

Went from 11-32 to 11-36. Finally putting that 9 speed Deore with 10 speed shifters trick to good use.

Replaced aluminum freehub body with steel. Apparently when a bearing goes bad on a DT Swiss 350 you’re supposed to…replace the entire freehub body??? I ordered a spare bearing but figured I might as well get the steel freehub while I’m at it and save messing around with replacing the bearing for next time.

That’s all. Thanks for reading.

how did you know that the bearing had gone bad? I’ve got at least one 7 year old 350 rear hub that one must assume is towards the end of its life…

There was a squealing noise that I thought was my chain crying out for lube but it didn’t go away after oiling the chain. The bearing felt quite crusty and crunchy when spun by finger. I ended up pulling the seal off and regreasing it which seemed to make it usable again for the few days before I got the replacement.

Finally put the new garburak cassette on. Definitely sounds noisier. Not ridden it. Is my cable housing too long? Had to add some chain.

Since I blew up the rear wheel on my nerdavinden last year somehow I haven’t had a working road bike, so I decided to pull this thing out of the attic and clean/tune it up:

I forgot how stupid fun this bike is. And I like the ratty chair just the way it is.

Messed with the saddle angle and rode the Polyvalent around the neighborhood to make sure the bulgy cable brake on the chainstay didn’t pose risk of heel strike. No problems detected.

Took it out of the box and hung a bunch of ā€œparts binā€ shit. Jandd-life compatible ERB from @JUGE_FREDD

I’m excited about this one.

looks wiggly

I did say I wanted a wiggle bike. I aimed for the Night Moves and landed in the Slingshot.
