I have a different used tire on there with a tube in it and gorilla tape on it again b/c that blue 3m shit shredded to ribbons when I removed it and was also a PITA to get clean.
Tube so I can just ride it with kiddo on sat.
I found a new wheel to buy b/c this rim is in fact on its last leg and i’ve already broken two axels in this hub so why not…
New wheel comes with microspline so I guess that means I need to buy a take off deore 12sp group instead of an HG freehub body right?
Really? I’ve removed that stuff from my wheels more times than I can count and have never had it shred. I blame the gorilla adhesive that was doubtless still stuck to your rim for this.

Possible… but they were pretty fucken clean. The tape just didnt work for me at all…even after pressing it in with a tube it still had air bubbles and a poor seal with the rim…
I’ve never worried overmuch about a few bubbles in there. I think the key to the blue tape is doing like 3-4 wraps to build up the rim bed. It’s way thinner than the gorilla stuff you’re used to using probably only 1-2 wraps.
The strips can happen with any tape. Just had to fight small strands on stan’s tape I removed on a wheelset.
And def always felt needed a few wraps of blue because I never found it laying down as well as yellow stuffs. But never had issues the few times I used it.
It’s probably cheaper to get another freehub body for your hub, rather than a mini group.
Yeah… but why not spend 100$ more?
Actually, I haven’t looked at the eBay grey market lately. Even the SLX groups are cheap.
Please tell me how you’re getting out for a ride with a new baby? My wife won’t let me out of the house and we are going on 9 weeks.

My son and i ride bikes to school everyday, so i take a couple extra minutes. This pic was like 200 ft from the trail turnoff into our neighborhood lol

Yeah about right, my only rides are the 3 miles round trip on the longtail to do school runs with my 3yo.
Only 9 more months before I add the 2nd one on the back…
