What did you do to your crosscheck today?

Decided to treat myself with some brand new pads and rotor (thanks Heath) on the rear wheel of my bakfiets. I’ll miss having an extremely effective “horn” that scares the pants off of motorists, but it’ll be nice to be able to stop the bike effectively.

I have a friend with a pair that have been faultless for him, since day 1. He gives them a hard time too.

They have been on my good mtb since new with no issues

My dad had SRAM Elixers on his bike in 1984 and died in a crash three years before I was born.

Rip

I replaced the original steering tube on my bakfiets with an “extra tall” one that turns out to only be 50mm taller than the standard one lol.

It ain’t pretty but at least the ez-up is gone and it no longer feels like I’m gonna rip the bars off the bike.
I think adding this tall VO stem will put the bars exactly where I want them. Even with the red riser thing, they’re a bit lower than they were on the ez-up at full extension.

I put on the VO tall boy stem. It’s fucken tall. Tallest rusty stack ever? Tallest stack ever that’s not on a Rodriguez?

new pads and rotors for the new SSMTB. why is six bolt a thing? don’t answer that.

the way this brake is routed i can’t get a good bleed on the rear. my shimano syringe kit thingy arrives monday so i can’t finish that.

i did take the horrible graphics off the fork and wheels, removed those little crank booties (which were red) and replaced the grips (which were yet another shade of red). i also want to get rid of the red CHAIN but i’ll just wait until it wears out.

you at least use an impact to deal with your 6 bolt, right? it’s more like 12 bolt if you ever need to touch it, atmo

Finally got the right hydraulic connector bolt and got levers/brakes connected.

Realized I need this plastic piece between the funnel and lever to bleed the brakes for some reason.

Crossing my fingers that the bike shop has one and I might get the bike ridable Monday

Oh nice. Consumed.

I got one with a syringe and gravity bleed catch bottle, too. Seems to work fine. Probably don’t need all the bibs and bobs, since i have a very tiny TRP hose I cut down and just place shimano funnel in when I need to lever bleed the DH Evos.

I’ll have to try that. I usually just thread the syringe on the lever with some fluid in it and no plunger.

Benefit is plunger still works in funnel and it holds mineral oil (even in small piece of tube) as you remove it.

Went for a ride the other day, got about half a mile from the house and my rear tire was audibly leaking air and would not seal

Decided to head home and swap tires (which also involved removing the fenders and low rider racks, just because)

HY front tire seated effortlessly

WTH back tire not so much

After multiple tries finally got the tire mounted (thanks inner tube trick

HY still made it out for a 25 mile ride just before the sun went down
