What did you do to your crosscheck today?

Wrassled my sram brake pistons today. Some bleeding, lots of cleaning and pushing in and out. 1 piston was frozen on each caliper. God damn it. Guess that’s why brakes haven’t been confidence inspiring lately.

I still can’t get the rear to feel good without pushing the contact adjustment all the way out. I might tune the feel a bit by overfilling by a few cc.

Are there, uh, 4 piston brakes out there that manage to consistently move the pistons in unison? lol.

I installed the dropper post on my rollin-with-Roli bike. Is there any actual advantage to an internal routed dropper? It sure was a pain in the ass to install.
Pushing the limits of bar to saddle drop.

My Arundel tape was getting pretty flat, so I took the opportunity to reroute my Di2 wires to let me put in a EW-WU111 in the future before I put new tape on. I tried doing the Better Shifting routing, but I only had two 700 and one 250 to make it work. Orbea had originally used a Y-splitter buried in their special stem that had a gap in the clamp to route a cable through to the Y. I had to scrap that when I did my fit. I got it routed by burying the Y in the stem again with the two 700s. I’ll have to unwrap the non-junction side to feed another 250 wire for the wireless later. Maybe after this Ergon bar tape wears out.

The XC bike also needed a new chain. I did the Zero Friction new chain strip and got that installed. I’ll see if I can get more than 50 hours out of this chain. I also topped off the sealant.

Tomorrow, I’ll probably swap the rear tire out on the enduro bike for the DHR Double Down I’ve been sitting on for the last year. The old DHR Exo is pretty weepy.

internal routing is just more clean. no real advantage over posts that actuate at the collar, but most all the good posts are internal at this point.

truly happy to see that you are pioneering beyond the rusty stack and branching out.

Internal protects the cable a bit more from the elements, plus an internal cable makes for fewer zip ties to cut your thigh on when riding. :person_shrugging:

External also relies on a Kevlar chord and pulley system inside the post that can wear and cause issues. They are fussy to rebuild too for the same reason.

All I know is that I’ve put my external PNW post through use and conditions that I’m sure it wasn’t intended for and it’s going strong. It has developed a little bit of side to side play but I can’t feel it while riding.

i think that’s called float. as a time pedals guy i don’t mind it.

i didn’t do anything to any of my crosschecks other than add air to tires. but i did replace the hose on my cheapie planet bike ozone pump i’ve had since 2007 for the first time with a hose i bought in 2020. not sure why i waited so long. it doesn’t pop off of my shorty tubeless presta valves anymore. why the fuck did i willingly suffer for so long

Replaced headset bearings on the cross bike.

Collecting goods to 1x and crossify my niner RLT9.

Messed with the B Screw on my Ripmo, it’s been a little slow in the upper middle of the cassette. I also raised the saddle a wee bit.

Family burrito night so I went and got takeout. Still like this thing for mac ride and around town duty plus the yeti cooler on the @Orc rack works great for takeout.

Finished sourcing parts to take the Chorus bits off the Night Moves. All three drop bar bikes will be 2x11 Sram with cable brakes of some goofy variety (two Growtac on EE). Is this where I dig in my heels and let technology pass me by?

Rode the MTB. Set up needs work, 0% sag is not the move

I’m glad to hear that cable brakes have become so much better. I’m gonna be in the market in a few months I think.

Shifting wasn’t consistent, shredded cable. Replaced cable then fought with DR trying to get it to shift properly. Ended up swapping to a different DR and I think we’re all good now
