De-basketed and re-sussed 1x1. Also put on knobbies and a Thomson chairpole I had lying around. Might go ride a trail?
It was kinda wild. I tried two or three different attempts on the link and all were would just kink a bit. Then I used the knipex to get them pretty much flush by walking around the high points and we were good. Of course the two bearings near the dropout went in with no issue.
I lucked out that my previous experience putting bearings in went swimmingly. But I often sold my bikes a year or so later and didnt worry about them.
Thought i better check the pads on the growtacs pre-poop-barn. Just as well, but accidentally dislodged the moving piston, and had to remove the static piston to get a better look at how to replace it… check out the mechanism to stop the static one from unwinding… one springy thing on each side, not easy getting them back in .
Finally did minor drivetrain refresh on the ebike. I had completely reprofiled the freewheel, which I initially missed because the chain was still not reporting much wear. New freewheel and chain, chainring seems utterly unfazed. Still need to rebleed brakes, but pads seem fine.
Cheap hub went out after 3500 miles
Upgraded to dtswiss 240 and rebuilt my rear wheel. Cheaper than a new wheelset
Much better
what was there before? dt knockoff? i’ve been waiting to learn more about them
Random hub I got from AliExpress
It’s been almost 10 months since this bike saw real mud - until last weekend. Was slipping and sliding all over the place and once I got home realized I’d let the front tire get way more worn than expected for the mileage.
Such a satisfying upgrade, knobs were less than half their original height.
Nice. Guessing that wasn’t in the bins o’ cranks.
No, there was a parts swap up stairs
Oh hell. I was going to go to that and completely forgot about it yesterday.
Had a 2020-ish RaceFace dropper that’s kinda sucked the whole time. It wasn’t the first awful RF-made one, it was a rebranded Fox Transfer that was supposedly good. Still, the thing’s had low strength the whole time, and never fully locked out about half the time.
Swapped it out for the Loam I had on the former fatbike. This thing is so quick coming up I gotta start considering my yarbles as I ride.
Hope Sunday’s weather holds up so I can take it out for a ride.
