Put a brake on the 24" BMX and a new chain on the 20. Both are good to go. The freecoaster on the 20 is going to take some getting used to.
minor complaint about a bike shop, went in looking for a spacer for cranks. Told them the i.d. I needed and they found one and didn’t measure it and it turned out to be too small. Needed 24mm and this was probably 19.
I haven’t been a 1mm’er for most of my bicycle life. But, I’ve been chasing a numbness issue in my left foot for the last few months. I tried new saddles, moved the fore/aft and up/down position of the saddle, and changed the height up/down, but nothing has been working. Today I broke out the calipers and shims to get the pedals exactly even on the Q. I moved the right side -1.5 mm and the left side +4.5 mm to get each side even with +/- 0.5 mm error. I’ll have to see how this does.
Admittedly, some of this is my own doing since I have a 5800 left crank () arm paired with a RS520 right arm. On paper, the Q is a 4 mm difference, which should have been fine with the 2 mm BB shim and pedal washer I had. I guess there’s an extra 1 mm in there somewhere unaccounted for.
You broke my brain Fred.
Are you saying that if you continue the line of the spoke to where it would be on the flange of a normal hub, the angle is such that you get crossings and that those crossings count even though they’re like theoretical crossings?
Also did some work on a Grin hub equipped bike over the weekend. Installed the torque sensing BB/crank and battery to make sure there was no interference. Now just waiting on a few parts from Grin and chainrings from Amazon.
In the last week I:
Put new brake pads on the MTB
Cleaned the pads on my commuter and tuned the front shifting… again (somethings up)
Did a bushing/pin service on my dropper post.
Finished ride-wrapping sup’s new stumpy, after she rode it in the rain. She said shew as going to ride the other bike, but thought she could beat the rain.
Really, that wasn’t that big of a deal since it wasn’t that dirty.
Mostly was just too chilly in the garage so wrap wasn’t conforming as it should without adding heat. But on the whole, it went on pretty well. Had to use blow dryer and press down a few ends over the course of the weekend.
Put new chain on the H/G. It was pretty worn, so wondering if I should get a new 46t sugino chainring and maybe the three cogs I have ridden in for a while on flatter commutes.
