What did you do to your crosscheck today?

I found a set of mudguards with a seat tube mount, and a solid, well-made metal one at that. So, I could finally put them on Snowaguchi! From Brick Lane Bikes, kinda like a smaller-scale Velo Orange in the UK.

They’re big and hammered, so didn’t fit with the Snowaguchi vibe, so I got another set of Pelagos that fit perfectly with the 38c tires, and used that mount with them.

It took a few hours, spaced over a few days - lots of cutting struts, bending mounts, and even cutting a bolt shorter to not interfere with the cassette - but it’s finally done.

Weather’s shit, so gonna wait for a clear day to Gyesswho everyone with the new pic.

same. and i had to coveted threaded version. tried several setups and could never make it work.

Fender work can be some of the most tedious and frustrating bike dithering but there’s nothing more satisfying when the plan comes together, atmo.

I had a 1” threadless grey steamroller that I bought in ~05/06? And that was pretty great

I had a set of 36h Phil fixed to mavic a719 that I put 25s to 35s and it was just perfectly bombproof

Until I broke a set of 7710 cranx with powerlegs

I have been meaning to ask you and the other euros what EU sites you like to use

I try Swedish sites first, since shipping is usually immediate, but their stock is mainstream by Tarck standards. For my further fop chariot needs:

Bigger, more comprehensive sites:

bike24.com
r2-bike.com
bike-discount.de
simplebikestore.eu
bike-mailorder.com

Alt/niche stores:

lachouetteparis.com
gutenbiken.com
goldsprintshop.com
bike-packing.de
justpedal.nl
urbanbikewear.com

Brexit really hurt, because the UK has a hell of a lot of good stuff that’s too expensive now.

I’ve used bike24 and deporvillage but not bike-discount yet although they do have some items I’ve been eyeing. La Chouette however looks perfectly cheeky, and gutenbiken carries Ti danglebongs so you nailed the vibe

Welp today I decided to be an adult and swap out the 45mm internal carbon rims I’ve been running on my fat bike for the beginning of the season for the 70mm internal alloy rims. Believe it or not the 4 - 4.5” tires were actually a rip on the 45mm rims, particularly in the summer and super hard packed snow. But with conditions getting super varied, and a trip up north where there’s actually deep snow on the horizon, cooler heads have prevailed to run the wider rims. Unsurprisingly the tires have flattened out a good amount which should help with float especially at lower pressures.

Also at long last I think I finally found the right stem length and rise to make these Steve Potts Siskiyou bars work. It’s been, like, a year of trying stuff.

(pix whenever I take it out for a ride of course)

This is happening.

I adopted a Jack Russell last month and he comes to work every day. Needed a solution for days that it’s too cold or inconvenient for him to be in a backpack.

Plus this bike has been rotting in my ex’s garage and needed some actual use.

Here is the boy:

is there something like a giant pogie that can cover the crate from the front and keep him warm?

I can rotate it 180 on colder days. But he also has a little coat coming courtesy of my mom.

First of all we have a dog thread and uh I haven’t seen any updates there

  1. Some kind of wind block fabric cover will help, even better if it’s insulated. Air movement what you want to limit

Maybe one made from a big flat rectangle of material so it’s more versatile/adaptable?
