I found a set of mudguards with a seat tube mount, and a solid, well-made metal one at that. So, I could finally put them on Snowaguchi! From Brick Lane Bikes, kinda like a smaller-scale Velo Orange in the UK.
They’re big and hammered, so didn’t fit with the Snowaguchi vibe, so I got another set of Pelagos that fit perfectly with the 38c tires, and used that mount with them.
It took a few hours, spaced over a few days - lots of cutting struts, bending mounts, and even cutting a bolt shorter to not interfere with the cassette - but it’s finally done.
Weather’s shit, so gonna wait for a clear day to Gyesswho everyone with the new pic.
I’ve used bike24 and deporvillage but not bike-discount yet although they do have some items I’ve been eyeing. La Chouette however looks perfectly cheeky, and gutenbiken carries Ti danglebongs so you nailed the vibe
Welp today I decided to be an adult and swap out the 45mm internal carbon rims I’ve been running on my fat bike for the beginning of the season for the 70mm internal alloy rims. Believe it or not the 4 - 4.5” tires were actually a rip on the 45mm rims, particularly in the summer and super hard packed snow. But with conditions getting super varied, and a trip up north where there’s actually deep snow on the horizon, cooler heads have prevailed to run the wider rims. Unsurprisingly the tires have flattened out a good amount which should help with float especially at lower pressures.
Also at long last I think I finally found the right stem length and rise to make these Steve Potts Siskiyou bars work. It’s been, like, a year of trying stuff.
I adopted a Jack Russell last month and he comes to work every day. Needed a solution for days that it’s too cold or inconvenient for him to be in a backpack.
Plus this bike has been rotting in my ex’s garage and needed some actual use.
