Put the Shotgun kiddie seat that I brought over to the Central Coast, Straya, last xmas on my SILs new hardtail. It fits well and the grandson didnt want to get off after the first ride. Hes 19 months old.
Built up the balance bike/trike I brought over for the grandson. He loved that too.
Swapped the front wheel on my “Central coast loaner bike” Santa Cruz Superlight to a 27.5 wheel I brought over from NZ. Its compatible with the Fusion fork. Swapped the rear wheel out for another wheel i brought over from NZ. The current rear wheel was a bit lightweight and the SILs raw meatatarian brother is coming over soon and he weighs 100 + kgs. He will probably use it a bit, even tho its only a medium. Also brought over a set back post to replace the lightweight Easton one it was using. Bumped up the air pressure in front and rear shocks for a 100 kg pay load. Swapped out the rear BB7 for an older one as the one it had installed had a problem with ejecting one of the pads.
Swapped the 180 rotor from the wheel going to Melbs with a 160 rotor I bought with me, it will go with the lightweight rear wheel I took off the Superlight, as a spare road going wheelset for the Cdale F700 I sent over for Melbs SIL. We can put the RTPs back on it. All this in 39 degree heat. Fuck this. Give me the rain and cold of NZ any day.
Brought over new bars for the SILs Tokyo bike and my daughters IBOC Mongoose and it turned out that none of them worked. Somehow the Goose’s bars sweep meant the cabling was too short and the Tokyo bike had a stem/handle bar-bulge requirement that I had overlooked…
not when it gets super hot, anything up to 30 is pretty manageable. Just need to get up nice and early to beat the heat. Looks like you copped the worst of it, it’ll be back to mid-20s for xmas and boxing day…
I just installed a +1° Works Components angle headset on my Stooge R-Buckle to get a little more front wheel traction in the snow. It’s a great piece of kit even though it’s super ch0nky.
Got a fit for the first time in years. Fixed a leg length issue I didn’t know I had. Never actually been able to sit on a saddle like I can now, feels odd to not be twisting my pelvis. Sadly, the saddle went down and bars came up. Bike handles fine but looks like ass. Dude was trying to get me to consider a Domane
Cut my new plastic handlebars to 730 and put them on the MTB.
Degreased and tuned the commuter drivetrain then bled the shimano brakes… which didnt improve because of course fucken shimano… They never work great… but never get shitty… probably the right call for the commuter but part of me wants to ball out and put on some hayes 2 pot.
Also.. when I had the rear wheel off I absent mindedly scraped the rear fender clean and dumped a bunch of grit all over the drivetrain that I had just cleaned really well..
But… I wore blue nitrile gloves so I felt like a real mechanic.
Doh. Forgot to mention this. I scrounged this clicky thing from the coop and mounted it to the Mont Bell bag I got in Japan, and brought it over for Ash. The bars on her Goose are the right diameter. It was very popular. Room for a toddler bottle and cell phone.
Put the quad lock mount on the boxbiek a couple of days ago and commuted on it this morning. Using my phone with the Bosch app is such a better experience than the Intuvia 100 display the bike came with (that locked up twice in a week and a half, requiring the battery to be pulled to reset it).
bled my rear maven brake.
The hardtail got sup’s take off brakes, which have been sitting with cut hose for over a year. Then managed to get it on with trimming a smidge coz hardtail. I was hoping since it was mineral oil it may be like shimano fresh installs. While it felt a bit softer than front, it was solid. At least for first two rides. Then it would pull to the bar.
Bleed is same as other sram, mostly. Did get a bleeding edge dohickey ordered for my park tool bleed kit so I can do it at home next time.
wth- should have probably bled the front, too, as it now feels worse than freshly bled rear. But it was already after 5pm and I wanted to go home.
