Bridge is no issue and it clears the brake.
is dimpling aluminum a thing?

I wouldnât do it aggressively but if you only need 1-2 mm on either sideâŚ
Listened to my 85 year old mum who knows nothing about bikes but suggested that my rear tire looked a bit worn⌠4 days of barn pooping starts tomoz. No resupply for 3 of them so carrying waaay more food than I ever have before. I think I will be going back to a rack. Taking cooking equipment has really messed up my packing regime.
Tail gonna wag the dog.
Luckily there is not much singletrack. Ive taken to putting my leg over the cross bar rather than swinging it over the bags, after I absentmindingly clipped them once and nearly fell over. Im sure Iâll get use to it pretty quickly.
hung all the parts together and went for a test bike ride which is a lot like a bike ride but youâre acutely aware that at any moment something could go drastically wrong but when itâs all said and done you have some data points to revise your work and feel a little bit out of breath from stomping a little pedal
I present to you live and in living color, a disc road rock lobster in the size of me
looks great!
Hot fire! SL88s?
oh the handlebars, these are Ritchey NeoClassic with a traditional bend shape but still technically on the short reach (73mm) and shallow drop (128mm) end of things
mounted a set of rare nitto handlebars to my track bike, i like the new feel berry much!
Test fit the new wheels
Pretty excited about this thing. I need to swap the cranks over from the Cannondale, buy a new chainring, levers and cassette.

Tried removing WTB Rangers from my Jones. âTriedâ being the operative word. Ended up cutting the beads to extricate said tires. Needless to say I was not pleased.
Stans rims?
Jonesâ house brand.
Too be fair, the Rangers were a beast to install, but I never thought theyâd be impossible to remove. Very Speedsters, by comparison, barely require tire levers.
Put brakes on the fixed gear and BMX bike. Racing the BMX until I can afford a proper race bike.
Continuing my streak of luck, the tip turned up two dyno wheels, a bomb track with fucked axle and bearings, and a disc XT with no notchiness and a missing terminal and a wire hanging out of it, but critically, the same spoke count and apparent rim model as friendâs SON.
Took a $5 flyer on it, the alex rim was slightly diff in profile but looked otherwise identical. Unlaced the XT, taped the rims together and also switched to double square nipples in the process.
ERD must have been basically identical as it trued up
With good spoke thread engagement. One nipple wouldnât go on⌠eventually looked at it and it was solid, no hole at all.
So friendâs rebuilt LHT will also be getting a resurrected SON surprise after the SP switch (lucky i didnât cut the spade connectors off). That bike was in a state, now with new wheels, tyres, cassette, RD, chain, granny, brakes, levers tape, cables & housing.
Passed on the trash vintage FS bike that had sweet tioga bars and tektro vee brake.
Finished spring bike stuff.
For the commuter - washed, swapped in the non-studded Marathons, degrease / deep clean on the drivetrain, adjusted shifting and brakes.
For the Vaya - took off the rear rack, put on the blackburn basket, and swapped in the Vittoria Terrenos.
Laced and tensioned and taped and installed a tube / 29 x 2.35" G-one speed pro tire for the front of the Jones, along with tape and matching tube/tire install for the pre-built rear wheel. That front wheel built up so easily. This may be the first time ever that Iâve laced and done final tension a wheel on the same day. Tried Teravail tape this time because thatâs what the LBS had. Good thing I didnât mess it up because the roll had only the exact amount of tape needed for two wheels. Havenât ridden them yet because the cassettes are in much different places between the stock Jones wheel and the new rear wheel.
Meanwhile, the wheels I laced up back in October for the disc trucker are in the closet seething.
