What did you do to your crosscheck today?

Got some tall bars for it. Definitely better for cruising, haven’t decided if they’re better for bmx.

Pulled the messed-up Terraspeed from the front wheel and installed a new one. I’ve never had to use a compressor on the last two sets of Terraspeeds but had to this time. If I had realized I was going to replace both tires, I would just have gone with the Specialized Pathfinders they had in stock.

WTH: PB Blaster earned its name tonight. The rear dangler barrel adjuster was seized so I pulled the cable and shot some PB Blaster in there so I could unthread everything and clean it up. Apparently there wasn’t much space for the PB to go, so it reflected back at me, coating my glasses and leaving a nice trail across the shop mats.

Update on the coaster cog saga… it turns out it was a self inflicted wound. The EBB had moved laterally towards the NDS, which of course moved the chain towards the tire.

The chainline is still terrible with a flat cog though so I’ll run the offset when it shows up. But at least I don’t have chain rub now.

I been having a hell of a time building this Stooge.

I completely fucked up on the TRP Slates. I got some OEM ones off eBay, and failed to recognize the barb in the hose, tried to use Shimano barb which did not not fit. Ended up ordering 10x TRP barbs and getting it together and hadn’t cut off too much hose in my failed Shimano attempts.

Then I tried to put the star nut in and accidentally dropped the fork on the ground and fucked up the paint on the crown.

also bought some WTB i29 wheels off Marketplace that ended up being shitty cup and cone hubs that weigh a ton. I suck at bikes now

Trying to figure out my relationship with 650b. Pulled the mezcals off and put on some nearly new facebooked Horizons. Couldn’t get them to seat, so used tubes, but had to hog out the valve holes very slightly.

Secan definitely rides better, but I wish I’d just 700’d.

I’d try something else if you have the dithering energy, maybe boken or whatever conti terra flavour suits you

Boken is a great tire atmo.

I added this essential accessory to Ro’s bike.

I think I’m over it. I’d rather have roll over than float (and get better road tires with an occasional gravel swap). I also pedal strike pretty regularly.

Excessive tire isn’t as fun as I thought it’d be and it’s not like I’m clearance limited for what I’d use in 700. Gonna rim swap probably, eventually.

i am having the opposite feelings about the 700c wheelset i just built for my all around bike

going from 650x47 to 700x45 made my toes rub on the tire on any technical stuff, doesn’t feel much faster, and the bike is less jibby. might go back to the 650b pub wheelset

I just love the way I can swap out 2 inch 6fiddys for 700x35s and they the same height. Mostly. Sure they handle differently but I really feel this is better than the new way… one bike that can fit 700 x 50s and 700 x 35s. Thats gotta be a whole lot different.

I “finished” fixing my friends bike. The 9speed sram shifts like shit on the 10-11 speed conversion (dremel) hub that I had. I need like a 1mm cassette spacer but I only have 2mm cassette spacers. I think I did an ok job of not nerding it up too much. I’m not even gonna mention that I replaced the wheels, bet she doesn’t notice. I asked if she had any sentimental attachment to any of the components and she looked at me like I’d just sprouted antennas from the top of my head.

Real belt and suspenders and suspenders situation here with two canti hangers and a v brake lol.

Did you swap out the gripe shit for triggers?

It had a 7-speed trigger shifter built into the short-pull brake lever. I ditched all that stuff for V brakes and some SRAM x9 stuff I had laying around.
That front wheel is a Salsa Delgado that I do have some sentimental attachment to lol, but it was covered in a decade worth of basement dust so I figure that it’s time to let it go. Learn to let go Rudy, learn to let go.
