You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

Well, it kinda fits where I want it. Definitely interferes with my coffee cage a bit.

my other big brainwave here is to just keep a couple of rachet straps on the back of the box so I can lash down the kid’s backpack and lunchbox. She’d still have to put up with some groceries sometimes, but as long as those groceries include the kettle chips she likes, I doubt she’d be too mad

Maybe some long vole straps would work. Is the Yuba really long enough to put a full size ortlieb in that spot. Ya couldn’t even pedal the Bullitt if you tried that. Sometimes I brush my toes on the bottle cages. There rear half of that bike is short.

The German panel bag thing I bought for our Bullitt is nice for using that space, it’s basically a piece of stiff plastic with a couple of big pouches sewn on.

yeah, the Yuba is really roomy in back. I wanted a Bullitt but a LvH salesperson told me that at 6’6" I would simply not fit. I think they may have been right, though the “ett” (a questionable notion on a cargo bike, but whatever) is roughly the same.

I’m going to get to it maybe around the holidays, along with sewing up a more permanent front rack fixed bag for my cycletruck.

@schultzor those Bullitt inset bags are really cool, I’ve considered asking Carsick Designs to make me some, but instead I bought huge Ortliebs that I have no idea how to attach due to: me genius

Supposedly someone in the PNW will be making Bullitt panel bags soon. They’ll probably be available from Splendid.

I’ll probably buy one. Some German thing was what gave me the idea for the mini ortlieb. I might still go for it but I’m hesitant to drill holes in the expensive box lol I should get over that.

you can always plug the wood. get after it on the wabi sabi tip. plug it with gold for a kintsugi vibe.

go for it! worst case you can plug it pretty easily

Snack pouch re-stocked, pumpkins loaded. We’re ready to go to school tomorrow.

Added the boy. I had to strap the front pumpkin stem to the side of the box with a voile to stop it from rolling around.

Anyone on here have any experience with the Shimano Steps E5000? Wife is looking at the Yuba Kombi E5. Only one actual hill on her regular route, so a ton of torque isn’t critical I suppose.

Haven’t ridden it but it’s underpowered for a cargo bike IMO. It’ll be most noticeable when moving from a stop. Does she not like the small wheels of a Tern?

Gotta be a Yuba since we can get industry price.

The Benno Boost is also badass and on Q

We went to a fall fest at our kid’s school and spotted this tern with an impressive popemobile attachment.

Seems a little overkill for sunny and 70f.

I’m sure that one is fun on a windy day.

Indeed. Today was very windy and the gate to get in here was locked which means she dragged that thing up a flight of (shallow) stairs!

The canopy on the Bullitt is surprisingly ok on windy days, but the COG is muuuuuch lower than that thing.

Benno is restricted and I’m too lazy to find out why because it’s significantly more $$$. Maybe we’ll suck it up and get a spicy curry.

As soon as Kaspar showed us, that flipping a Hagen Mini is possible, our good friend @williamkassfreestylecargo knew what he had to do. Two sessions later we end up...
