You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

Hmm, yeah, it’s just got two little side release clips that go through the basket. Might slide fore and aft without a basket.

I did that because the big rubber ILE tag made it extra annoying to use because it was in a spot that wanted to bend when the bag was closed but the big rubber tag did not want to.

Ok cargo nerds I’m gonna electrify the Clyde because I’ve got no more projects and that seems like a dumb thing to waste money on. Someone here was telling me to get a front hub motor but I can’t remember who or why they said that was the move.

I’m still leaning towards a torque sensing mid drive but open to suggestions.

Damn just got the Xtracycle rack and bag don’t tell me that

I’m looking to do similar with mine. I also want torque sensing so it’s down to a CYC Photon or Toseven for mid-drive or a Grim for a rear hub motor. Waiting on some reviews to come out on the Toseven.

Hadn’t heard of these. They look smaller than the Tongshen which is nice.

Ideally I’d get a CYC photon I think?

That’s what I’m leaning towards now but there seems to be a lot of anecdotal stories of failures and they are not user serviceable like Bafang motors. The High Voltage YouTube channel just got theirs back from service/warranty and I’m looking forward to their review of that process. Maybe by the time I’m ready to buy in summer 2024 there will be a more robust v2 or something.

Man don’t let my aversion to velcro bum you out, looks like a super solid bag, and the rack is a beast.

Bumming myself out considering the Surly Porteur House bag, it ticks all the boxes, but I want somethin more special.

Grin Tech (aka ebikes.ca) is located to the north of you in Vancouver and has options for front hub motor kits that can include a torque sensing BB if you want. They’ll also do wheel builds around those hubs. I’ve been pretty happy with my front hub kit from them.

I always save those tubs. They’re huge, great for catching and transferring automotive fluids, storing bits and bobs, “secondary containment” for smelly things. And they’re light.

Whatever you do, make sure it has a torque sensor.

Just got a CYC account for the shop and have high hopes for them. The fact that they have any support at all is a huge plus.

I ended up getting the Xtracycle bag, its just so much bigger for the monster rack

Looks like Johnny Nerd Out is now selling CYC replacement parts too which is neat.

Hmm CYC vs. Grim, time to go down a rabbit hole.

Has this been discussed? We picked up a contract supplying adaptive cycling equipment to the VA hospital and I’m learning about the plethora of seriously strange brands on the fringes of the industry.

This looks like an idea I had of front double row panniers on an omnium

Mighty high COG on that thing.
QR deck removal is cool for apartment dwellers and for driving your cargo bike around on a car rack for some reason.

Whoa its got an insert that takes a normal BB in place of where a Shimano Steps mid-drive would go?

The more I look at that thing, the more I like it.
