I’ve been riding my 2018 xtracycle more now that the baby is sleeping a bit better. The step thru frame really bothers me for both visual and practical reasons. When I stop at a light etc. I can’t use my legs to hold the bike upright, I have to keep my hands on the bars. This prevents feeding my 3yo snacks or poking him to keep him awake till nap time.

Ive now gone down the rabbit hole of buying ANOTHER Xtracycle just so I can swap to a standard (non step through) frame. Unfortunately the two I’ve looked at have been older frame revisions that lack some of the perks of their newest one. They were both cheap as hell though, too bad the bike room is full.

Rats.

Roll the bike back onto the kickstand when you stop?

I don’t think I can do that from the riding position, just from the side, but I’ll try it next time

You could with a rolling jackass kickstand since it had a brake lever for deployment

I can buy a whole 2nd Xtracycle for $400 from our coop

Get a dropper post?

This $1500 cargo bike folds up to become a stroller!
Or for storage, I guess.

I need a better headlight for my Lorry, I’ve been strapping a flashlight underneath the Bigant crate but I keep forgetting it’s there and I don’t think it’s very visible anyway. Thinking maybe a LED light bar for the front of the crate… any other options I should consider?

In other news, Cargo bike company Babboe stops sales and tells customers to “immediately stop” riding their bikes due to faulty frames – after “lying” about defects | road.cc

You like? I’m in the market for my 3rd dynamo light. I got the IQ-X on both my other bikes and it’s been great but $120 is a lot of coin.

Yeah, IQ Cyo is a great light.

I love the Cyo on my H/G but I have no idea where I’d mount it on the Lorry. Underneath the crate is too low, sides are too far out, I can’t imagine how it’d mount on the front, and the handlebars would get obscured by cargo.

My Lorry has an IQ-X mounted under the front rack (the part that’s welded to the frame) on the left side and that location has worked out great. You’d just need to figure out some sort of mount for the Cyo.

Technically it’s an IQ-XE, but it’s the same size as the dyno version.

Or just bend the stock bracket

That’s cheating

Not that it matters in practice but I feel like that would be really springy/bouncy.

That wire bracket is burly and the light weighs as much as a frog’s fart because there’s no battery in it. It’s not bouncy.
