When we were still thinking we would have another kid, I was getting super geeked up to spend a bunch of money on an e-bakfiets like that Packster. Now that it looks like we are one-and-done, I’m thinking I can just stick to my longtail. I did want to use a bike for keg swaps but it’s still cheaper to just keep using my old Honda for that lol…
We went to see the lights at the zoo and the only bikes on the racks were cargo bikes.
There were like twenty more as we were leaving but I didn’t get a picture. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in one place before. People want cargo bikes it’s awesome!
Pink bags good
men people only want one thing and it’s disgusting (cargo bikes)
kid definately only wants to ride in ours. “well if you don’t get your shoes on then we might just have to walk rather than go in the cargo bike”
Anytime we are out with the kids and the car and the bike and we give them the choice of going home in the bike or car it’s bike 100% of time
when in texas, do as the texans do
oversized trucks are just cargo bikes with different geometry
i hurd u liek cargo bieks
Isn’t it more work to adapt the old bike to cluster it onto the front end rather thean just fabbing the whole thing?
Not an effbuilder, but stays, dropouts, cluster with binder, BB, bottle bosses all adds up to a bunch of joints. Not to mention keeping the dropouts nice and aligned, BB shell already tapped, seat tube already reamed. I can see how starting with an already build frame is an advantage.
Rack I found on eBay
Looks heavy but we didn’t have these 10 years ago
That looks like a 75% less expensive knockoff of the Allygn diamond rack.
Unrelated,
Fucking around stage complete, finding out stage starting (positive, so far).
why in the world would they make a whole seperate sku for the drives on the wrong side of the road market instead of just putting two tabs on it?
Yeah that doesn’t make sense to me either.
@cheese and @Blakey found some drawings from R&M showing the dimensions of the Carrie boxes if you’re interested. The PDF doc is linked from the link below.
Stuff like this. There’s also a front view.
Just got a promo email from Xtracycle, $1500 off the RFA as they are discontinuing it.
Heard a while back that they are going to update the Swoop to be 24” front/rear wheels, so I guess it wouldn’t make sense to keep the RFA. Wonder if they will do a mid/short tail of some sort too.
Finally wore the reversible denim vest. Hadn’t unpacked everything from the move, but sub freezing temps in Bellingham made a good test for it.
Was quite pleasant with just this wool sweater on the way in. Will be about 37 for commute home so it could get slightly warm for that. But I’ll get to try to hi vis side!
Man it even has the man-of-substance fit but it just doesn’t get cold enough around here to get much use out of one lol
Yeah, a roomy enough fit for layers, which was nice. This is a medium.
Did get some compliments on it at work. And they were pretty blown away when I reversed it.
Needs an Iron Maiden back patch.
