do y’all not have a similar e-cargo incentive scheme to Aus, or a secondhand market for them?
Australia doesn’t really have anything of the sort, except for sporadic localised schemes. I got mine through an interest-free loan from a credit union.
There are some scattered interest free loan schemes, and you can do a novated lease which will pay for it fully in 4y, but you need to be a fairly high income earner for the tax advantages to be worthwhile when compared to the interest and service fees. There might be employer incentives but i don’t know of any.
Not as much volume here to make the upway model work, i was lucky to have an inside man to get a line on an ex subscription one, but not as steep a discount.

There is some kind of a scheme for ebikes but I think its just a small discount and its via workplace so its quite unweildy. The “industry” people I know say never buy a second hand ebike and cite bikes having gone through multiple motors etc. Our govt had done everything it can to undermine adoption of EVs because it knows its voting base hates them. They must be feeling like right fucktards right now with what the orange cretin has done to gas prices.

lock has landed. no detent, still spring loaded. looks like the springback has been slowed to allow time to turn and then pull the lid open - original returns fully in ~2s, this one returns half way in 2s and then 75% by 4s, then stalls and has to be manually finished.
reading some small print on it led me to this, and some of them ( E5-9-325-520-10) mention a reversible key too.
that’s so strange, the lock shown in the original carrie2 video you found seemed to have a detent to stay open… I guess it could be the cam latch itself being adjusted tighter to provide the resistance and click?
yeah, i’m puzzled. is it a stiff/slow latch or did the warehouse pick a carrie1 latch accidentally?
will see how it goes after install it’ll either work or not.

@cheese the lock is identical, maybe more friction compound in it.
I put the original back in but i left the spring out, so the wing stays where you turn it. Easy mod, remove both box sides, undo the lock cam, remove the spring and replace, then refit the box sides. I added some graphite to the box hinge sliders while they were open too

the mysterious detent lock continues to elude! great call with dry lube on the sliders, I’m sure that is really helpful
At least you can mod yours for one handed operation for $0 and 30 min!

I’ll have to ruminate once I have it apart, but I wonder if a C-clip with a bump on each end could replace the spring and serve as a detent

Friend checked the carrie2. No springback, no detent. Just stays where you turn it to. So you can remove the spring and call it good.
