Are you folx with mismatched wheel sizes actually carrying spare tubes for both?
I’m trying to figure out how to portage tubes and tools and misc for the eLorry, ideally a small pump too. Everything I have is either too small or way too big. Thinking of consuming a small hip bag that can get thrown in the crate when open, cinched around the crate when it’s closed, and slung over a shoulder off the bike.
i have a feedback ziptied to my katu basket and that permanently carries 2 levers, a bike multitool, patches, and a Co2 set up. i park inside at work and home but outside stores etc no one has ever messed with it.
thats my vote, patch kit and Co2 to keep it minimal
I have a natural aversion to CO2, but then I’ve also had a pump fail recently and trying to pump up a slowly deflating tire with it actually made things worse, so
I carried a 20 and 26 tube when I went Lorrycamping last weekend. When I got home I realized that I didn’t have the 15mm wrench I’d have needed to take the wheel off.
Thought about doing a dual feedbag setup like Andrew, or trying to find some weird framebag that fits the Lorry geometry, if I can get over my overly paranoid self to leave that stuff on the bike.
That reminds me of a date I went long long ago. Brought wine and classes, but nothing to open the bottle with. Thankfully(?) we got chased away by park police before that became an issue because it was after dark.
I did that at home once (minus being chased by cops). Felt like a dumb 20yr old (as a 34yr old) because I didn’t have a corkscrew.
Also had a great night hanging out with some rednecks while camping because I got a fancy beer that had an unexpected cork under the cap. The folks next door were more than happy to share the corkscrew they used to open the gallon of rose’ they were drinking.
I consumed that little hip pack so I have something less frustrating to use in the meanwhile, then I can dither later. If my motor controller wasn’t underneath the rack, that would be a good place for a little custom bag.
When I bought my canvas Bullitt sides from @Straws he sent them in a little handmade Velcro pouch that fits a 26” and a 20” tube perfectly. I keep that thing in my huge spares kit that I try to remember to switch between bikes.
So that’s my solution.
Flat kit for all the usually used bikes. Have one bike setup with a flat kit that also works for the less ridden ones so that you can just swap a saddle bag/ Jannd frame bag in my case.
i started just leaving coins, lighter, and other low value but easy grab items in my clydesdale basket a while ago. nobody ever took it, even when parked in front of someone posted up asking for money on my way into the grocery store. bummed i haven’t been able to keep this experiment going
I put Marathons on my Clyde swap and have just hoped for the best from there. We’ve got tons of goat heads and broken glass, but I haven’t had an issue in 3 years.
Now that we’re on this topic, let stalk spares kits. This is the silly thing I haul around with me. The three loose Allen wrenches are for various pinhead security bolts. The little blue pouch has a 20” and a 26” tube.
