I don’t haul dogs but I do haul kid, and I assure you that a 40lb load and a 20lb load, each capable of sudden independent movement, right around the steering axis of a bicycle, is a recipe for disaster.
I’d just buy a Burley trailer off Craigslist. Or make the dogs pull you in a chariot.
I’d say put the 20 pound dog in a backpack but tbh a 40 pound dog is going to be difficult to transport by bike on anything but a Bullitt. A giant Wald basket is not enough to contain two small dogs that total less than 30lbs (ask me how I know) and 40 wagging pounds is going to be tough to handle even on a Clydesdale
New Ahearne Cycletruck has interesting design with the Pinion.
Looking at the rear fixed rack has me wondering why he didn’t design it with 20" wheels front and back then extend that thick center tube to the rear end and build a similar rack on both sides
Damn you, tarck, pooping on my Clydesdale plans. The Burley trailer makes a lot of sense. My local Craiglist has an Encore for $100. The weight limit is 100lbs, which means I may as well get a few more dogs.
oh what a blast from the past. Who built NCT001 again? I remember the dual fork slot for trail experiments from around the time I first acquired my tarckyon.
I’d be curious to ride someone elses bike with those big ass bars to see what it’s like, but I’m not gonna spend my dollars on em or go through the trouble of putting them on my own bike.
